The NBA Live series has had a rough go at it over the last number of years, starting with the failure of NBA Elite 11, which forced them to go on hiatus. The series returned in 2013-2016, but took 2016 off to better their product. With NBA LIve 18 set to launch next month, EA Sports has now revealed not only the cover athlete, but also has put a demo out for the game.
Being cover athlete for a major sports video game is a big honor, with Kyrie Irving set to be on the cover for the upcoming NBA 2K18. NBA Live 18 went even bigger though with a year in and year out MVP candidate in Houston Rockets player James Harden.
“When I heard about working with EA SPORTS and being the cover athlete of NBA LIVE 18, I was pretty excited for the opportunity. NBA LIVE 18 is all about creating your own identity and making your mark on the league, and I can definitely relate to that. If anybody knows about creativity, it’s me.”
Starting today, any player who has Xbox Live Gold or a PlayStation Plus membership on Xbox One and PS4 respectively can also download the free NBA Live 18 demo. For those getting it on Xbox One, you will need to make sure you have 16.09 GB free, while the PS4 demo is a little smaller at 13.8 GB.
The NBA Live 18 demo will let you take part in The Rise, which is a prologue of sorts to The One mode in the game. The One is the character story driven mode in NBA Live 18, with you even able to carry over that progress over to full game when it releases. Also coming in the demo are a series of specially timed Live Events for The One that are done weekly and can be carried over as well. Lastly, the demo just has a simple Play Now exhibition game of the latest NBA Finals that saw the Golden State Warriors taking on the Cleveland Cavaliers.
NBA Live 18 will be releasing for Xbox One and PS4 on September 15.
