Middle-earth: Shadow of War can’t seem to get out of the loot box spotlight. Just yesterday we reported that the game’s microtransactions could effectively be turned off by declining the Terms of Service agreement. It seems that step wasn’t enough for some players.
Through the use of Cheat Engine, PC players are granting themselves unlimited loot boxes. The Cheat Engine script supplies the player with a never-ending supply of Mirian (silver coins), allowing for the purchase of as many Silver Loot Chests and Silver War Chests as one desires. This is how some people are deciding to combat the implementation of microtransactions and Shadow of War‘s somewhat grindy experience.
It is worth noting that the cheat does not provide any Gold Coins, a much harder currency to obtain in game without opening your wallet. That means that the cheat won’t create opportunities to endlessly open Gold and Mithril chests. Given that the script just hit, it could be only a matter of time before it is developed to allow for Gold to be amassed.
For obvious reasons, we won’t be listing any links to the cheat script or program here. With all the information contained within this article, locating either shouldn’t be too hard for those that feel the need to pursue this course of action.
With this noticeably impacting the economy structure within Shadow of War, it may won’t take the team over at Monolith long to respond to this development, likely in the form of a patch. We will be sure to keep you updated on the story as it evolves.
