Earlier today was a big day for Mega Man, the Capcom son that had seemed to mostly be all but forgotten. The biggest news of the day was of course that of Mega Man 11, but that isn’t all that Nintendo Switch owners are going to be getting in 2018 as Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 have been announced for the system as well.
We’ve had many different release for the various games in the Mega Man franchise over the years, with the most recent being a pair of collections known as the Mega Man Legacy Collection that span Mega Man 1-10. The first collection released in early 2016 and included the first six games for NES, while a second came out earlier this year and included 7-10 together.
Mega Man Legacy Collection released not only on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, but also for the Nintendo 3DS, but Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 skipped Nintendo platforms, until now at least.
During the 30th anniversary live stream event earlier today, it was announced that both collections will be coming to the Nintendo Switch at some point in 2018.
In addition, the Switch version of Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 will come with added amiibo support, which should likely support the Mega Man Smash amiibo and the Gold Mega Man amiibo. We don’t know what exactly it will do in-game, but the first collection had support for amiibo on the 3DS that added exclusive challenges.
We don’t have a specific release date yet, but look for these collections to release sometime in 2018.
