Deconstructeam is readying the release of their new point-and-click cyberpunk thriller, The Red Strings Club. Publisher Devolver Digital has announced that the retro-looking adventure will release on PC via Steam on January 22nd, which is just over one week away.
The Red Strings Club will have players dive into a shady neon-soaked world to unravel a corporate conspiracy using various skills, such as mood manipulating bartending and information extraction through impersonation. Here is the official description of this unique title straight from the store page:
The professed altruistic corporation Supercontinent Ltd is on the verge of releasing Social Psyche Welfare: a system that will eliminate depression, anger and fear from society. However, the bartender of a clandestine club and a freelance hacker don’t regard this evolution as an improvement but as brainwashing. Alongside unwitting company employees and a rogue empathy android, the duo will pull all the strings they can to bring down this scheme.
If the structure of this looks familiar to you, then you may recall Deconstructeam’s similarly-styled Gods Will Be Watching, which released in 2014. For those that never got around to playing it, pre-ordering The Red Strings Club will bundle in a copy of Gods Will Be Watching. If you already happen to own their previous work, a giftable copy will appear in your Steam inventory, allowing you to share that experience with a friend for free.
The Red Strings Club is currently sporting a 20% discount until launch, at which point it will return to its $14.99 price point.
