The fourth and final Vampyr webseries episode, Stories from the dark, details how the game will blend deep storytelling and engaging gameplay. Narrative Director Stéphane Beauverger and Game Director Philippe Moreau return to discuss how video games provide a special medium for storytelling by giving the viewer direct input. It quickly becomes clear that the team at Dontnod has crafted what they believe to be something truly special in terms of narrative design.
However, there is a bigger piece of information to take away from this video than the player-story connection. At the very end of the four-and-a-half minute video, Dontnod quietly reveals the much anticipated release date for Vampyr. Barely making its previously stated Spring launch, Vampyr is set to release on June 5th.
Aside from being the week before the massive Los Angeles-based gaming event, E3, there isn’t much else currently set to hit store shelves around this time, leaving this vampiric tale without much competition. Hopefully, Vampyr is able to deliver on its promises and ambitious goals so that it can capitalize on its chosen date. It won’t be terribly long before we find out for ourselves.
Vampyr will be available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
